Marquise Shawn Mason

Marquise Shawn Mason, known as Shawn, has been a dedicated member of the Heart & Soul family since 2015, serving as an Officer of the Board. His passion for the organization, however, began long before his official appointment, as he has volunteered with Heart & Soul since 1999. His unwavering commitment to community service has made him an integral part of the organization’s mission to provide meaningful support and compassionate services to those in need.

In addition to his work with Heart & Soul, Shawn is a full-time longshoreman with Virginia International Terminals, where he plays an essential role in the state’s shipping and logistics industry. His expertise extends beyond the waterfront. In 2008, Shawn earned his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), enabling him to pursue opportunities in the commercial trucking industry. Over the years, he has worked with several transportation companies and successfully operated his own trucking business, Matyzo LLC, managing and growing his own fleet of trucks.

Shawn’s experience in leadership and business management extends beyond logistics. He has an extensive background in caregiving services, having owned a boarding care facility for individuals with mental illness and assisted his mother in managing her assisted living facility. Through this work, Shawn built strong relationships with healthcare professionals and community leaders, including the Bradley family, whom he met through the local association of assisted living facility owners. His hands-on approach, strong leadership, and commitment to delivering quality care have earned him the respect of colleagues and the community alike.

Outside of his professional and volunteer commitments, Shawn enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Ednora, and their children. Whether they are traveling, fishing, or simply relaxing together, family remains at the heart of his life. His ability to balance a demanding career, family responsibilities, and a lifelong commitment to serving others reflects his strong character and dedication to personal and professional growth.

Today, Shawn’s leadership, business experience, and passion for community service continue to be invaluable assets to Heart & Soul LLC and Heart & Soul C.D.C. Through his ongoing service, he remains committed to advancing the organization’s mission of providing compassionate care, empowering individuals, and strengthening the community.
